An inspirational romance novel has to observe many of the same conventions of a mainstream romance novel, but without much of the heavy sensuality that has almost become an industry standard.

The Kiss is one of those points where differentiation might be most easily observed.  Sensuality is allowed, yes, but it should really flow from emotion, from deeper feelings than just desire.  The taut line of wanting and having should definitely be explored…it’s exciting! But it should not be crossed…too far.

Senses are necessary to explore, but so is the heart.  Sometimes, I find that awkward to write, I confess.  I enjoy the tension, but the tipping of the scale to the kiss…those early precious kisses of a relationship…  I honor them highly and try to treat them with the care and delicacy they deserve while letting my reader peek.
