2012

Posted by: Sandi   in End of the Age

To begin with, I think I will state uncategorically that I do not believe the world will end on December 21, 2012.

I realize I am flying in the face of The History Channel, perhaps, and maybe even Nostradamus, not to mention the uncanny Mayan Calendar, but there you are.

However, I will not ignore several signs and portents, and so I wanted to begin a discussion, undertaken after prayer, as to what I see happening and what I see might indeed happen.

I will go back to scripture, for starters.

When God brought about the birth of his son, Jesus, called Immanuel, he announced this birth with direct fanfare to a group of shepherds.  He also indicated the birth of his son in a much more subtle way – to the magi.

The magi might more properly be called star-gazers, or astronomers (astrology being linked with astronomy as a science until just recently, in terms of human history).  People who studied the skies. And in these skies, the magi – the astronomers, if you will – saw the signs that the King of the Nation of Israel was being born. In the second chapter of Matthew’s gospel, we can read a little about them.

I believe God can indeed use stars to communicate when he wishes, for he made the stars and the planets.

Then God said, “Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to separate the day from the night. They will serve as signs for festivals and for days and years. - Genesis 1:14

God specifically said these “lights in the sky” would serve as signs for festivals.  They are not there just to amuse our Creator, or to provide light (though they do both, I am sure, at different times) but they have a purpose.  In addition, each star and planet is placed with precision.  I have heard that the balance of the gravitational pulls is necessary to the stability of our universe.

I am not a scientist and cannot speak to that, but am only reporting what I have read and heard.

So, then, I believe that God can use the skies to speak to us.  Not in the ways that astrologers of today might say, necessarily, but I do believe these lights in the sky do serve to communicate under the will of the Creator of All, the Lord God Almighty.

This being so, I believe that modern magi, astronomers, and even not-so-modern ones, might indeed be correct when they say that a huge cosmic event will occur in 2012.

I just don’t believe it will be the end of the world.

Not quite.

There are many things that might happen. On that day or many other days.

One of my favorites to visualize is that the Earth will slow it’s current spinning, stop, and then start moving backwards from the way it currently rotates. This is due to us switching hemispheres, so to speak, of the galaxy. Maybe time will go backwards?

Another is that maybe on that day, everyone on earth will become telepathic. All of a sudden, everyone is open to everyone else. Most will die of embarrassment, leaving the planet to those of us who deserve it :)

I think I just came up with my next blog post :) thanx!

I have heard of the possible reverse rotation thing, and the shifting of the magnetic field.

LOL @ fatal embarrassment. ACTUALLY, I am a firm believer in the strength of mortification as a form of punishment. Folks would rather go through almost anything than have their inner trials be brought to light.

I’ll look forward to your next post! :)

All you speak of is true…not to mention the fact Jesus will come back like a thief in the night. Sure Christians..some Christians may be ready but not the whole world. (1st Thessalonians 5 for reference.) And right now *everyone* is talking about 2012.

Regardless we all need to keep a vigil out but also make sure we don’t, as Christians, disregard living for the present. It seems that to many are living in the future or the past when people need help right now.

Warren, I do believe that Jesus’ coming will be a surprise, and after he is expected, (ref parable of the virgins in Matthew) but he did say that the signs would be there for those who were watching for them. So a vigil, as you say, is totally appropriate.

And we need to get our oil prepared! Living for today and for tomorrow. :)

Just seems like the signs have been there since He left to me, even some of the Apostles were certain he’d be back during their lifetimes, because the world around them provided portents aplenty.

Of course, that’s not why I stopped by.

Kind of a late happy new year, of sorts, I guess. Been thinking of all the people on MindSay that I’ve met and missed.

Gunman — I did get that you were anonymous, aye.

I believe, regarding the signs, that they can be interpreted in different ways, yes. Some have interpreted them to have already happened. All over. Finito. Forever. Others think these signs will be far distant.

I believe that today certainly brings the End of the Age much closer than it was when Jesus told his disciples what to look for. To me, one surety will be the Abomination that Causes Desolation. I believe that this person will be absolutely recognizable by those who are seeking.

Happy New Year to you, too. :) You are always welcome to visit here.
