P & P
An effort at a Shrinklit (R)…
Forgive me.
Pride and Prejudice
or!
P & P
The tale of Darcy and Elizabeth
– by way of Bingley and Jane –
Is one of the classic romances
Returned to time and again.
From Longbourne to Rosings
and Pemberley too
The lovers (unacknowledged)
Travel and woo
In absentia, for the most part.
Decisions are made
By letter and second-hand talk.
Through aunts who are bade
To share of experiences
Or prohibit their continuance.
Thus are the heroes and
Heroines found in romance.
For almost two centuries
We have been recapturing this
–Though it is hard! –
For Austen is far easier to
Quote than the Bard!
